What this site does with you, and what it doesn't.

A plain-English account of every outside library and service this site uses, every cookie it causes, and everything it remembers in your browser. It is generated from a list I keep up to date.

Loaded in your browser from other people’s servers2

When a page opens, your browser asks these servers for files. Each one can see your IP address, your browser and device type, the address of the page you are on (the referrer) and when you asked, because that is how anything on the web is fetched.

Adobe Fonts (Typekit)

A font service.

Why it’s here
It supplies the site's three typefaces (Artifex Hand CF, Artifex CF and Cartograph CF), which are licensed through Adobe Fonts.

What it can see
Your IP address, your browser and device type, and the address of the page you're on. p.typekit.net is Adobe's usage counter for the font kit, so Adobe learns that a page using it was viewed.

Thunderforest map tiles

A map-image service, built on OpenStreetMap data.

What it can see
Your IP address, your browser and device type, the address of the page you're on, and which part of the map you're looking at. The site's Thunderforest key is in the page's code, and Thunderforest uses it to attribute the traffic to this site.

It used to load from unpkg, and pulled its helper libraries in from there as it ran; they are copied here now and listed just below (plus Leaflet.almostover, a fifth it can ask for and this site's charts never do). Its own small helper libraries (leaflet-hotline and leaflet-distance-marker) come bundled with it.
